Main Source of Methadone Shut Down

AM640 Toronto Radio

Toronto - Thousands of recovering heroin addicts in Ontario are facing a shaky day ahead. Methadone is among the top recovery tools for heroin and pain killer addicts, but one of the main sources of the drug is getting shut down.

It's doled out to a chain of clinics throughout Ontario by a pair of pharmacists in Kitchener. But the pipeline is getting cut off by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, who say it's not being administered according to guidelines.

The loss of the clinic could give a huge boost to legitimate pharmacies. They're bracing for an influx of methadone users hunting for new suppliers.
