Illegally parked car leads police to Ecstasy stash

The Marin Independent Journal

An East Bay woman who parked illegally in the Spencer Avenue commuter lot was arrested after police found 100 tablets of suspected Ecstasy sticking out of her waistband.

The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when Sausalito police Officer Mark Aldridge spotted a vehicle illegally parked in the lot.

Aldridge contacted the two people in the car and discovered that the driver, 21-year-old Ravee Yem of Oakland, was wanted on a $5,000 warrant in a petty theft case.

Aldridge then conducted a search on Yem and found the suspected Ecstasy in the waist of her underwear.

"It was sticking about 2 inches above her pants," said Sausalito police Sgt. Scott Wyatt.

Yem was arrested on both the warrant and on suspicion of drug possession for sale, police said. Bail was set at $10,000.

Yem posted bail and was released pending a court hearing on June 19, Deputy District Attorney Linda Witong said.
