Beaufort, NC-AP - April 12, 2006 - A man and woman accused of using their car as a rolling methamphetamine lab are being held on drug charges.

Matthew Livingston Brown and Bridget Slaughter, who is eight months pregnant, are being held on $500,000 bond each.

The car remained in a store parking lot, and it was cordoned off while hazardous waste crews cleaned it of chemicals and drugs.

A police officer who stopped the car for a traffic violation Monday night smelled chemicals and noticed a large bucket on the floorboard in front of the male passenger. The officer says the bucket appeared to contain methamphetamine in the making, and he says the car contained everything needed to make the highly addictive drug.

Brown and Slaughter face a number of charges, including manufacturing methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. Slaughter also faces several motor vehicle violations.
