Marijuana petition drive for 2008 ballot is under way

WLNS

Lansing, Mich. Michigan residents could legally use marijuana on private property for under a measure proposed for the 2008 ballot.

The Board of State Canvassers today approved the form of a legislative petition proposed by an Eaton Rapids-based group backing the proposal. The measure would make it legal for those 18 and older to use marijuana on private property. Those found using the drug in public would be guilty of a civil infraction punishable by a 50-dollar fine. The measure also would allow people to grow marijuana at their residences.Supporters of the measure must gather about 304-thousand valid petition signatures to get on the 2008 ballot.
Previous signuture-gathering attempts failed in 2000, 2002 and this year.

This it is of the few places that I have visited that contains so much information specifies about the theme. The investigations that have carried out to obtain the information so complete that present in this place they are notable.

I congratulate him for having a site so spectacular and interesting I invite to visit my site because we share a theme in common and I expect that you enjoy my site as I enjoy yours.
Dr Bongs supports the legalization of cannabis for recreational and medical use. We recognize that the "War on Drugs" criminalizes otherwise law abiding citizens, reduces civil liberties for everyone, endangers drug users by forcing them to turn to criminals for their drug supply and threatens their health as illegal drugs are not subject to quality control and often contain dangerous substances

Vermonters with certain chronic illnesses can now use medical marijuana. The legislature passed the new medical marijuana law this year and the program started Friday. So far, only thirty people have asked for applications from the department of public safety, none have been sent in yet. Officials expect more people will apply as the program gets underway.

Convinced they have sound science on their side, advocates for the medical use of marijuana plan to launch a novel effort today to get the federal government to ease restrictions on the illicit drug.

I'm a 25yr old Female in Lincoln Park MI. I graduated high school (on time mind you) on the honor roll & am returning to college this fall. I also have many friends that graduated with TOP HONORS from different universites, some are nurses, electricians, teachers, police officers or they have high ranks in the military.
I have been an avid smoker for 11yrs and I may have had my share of trouble, but that is only because of the ridiculous laws surrounding Marijuana in Michigan. Therefore I really want to be a part of the 2008 ballot to support and legalize Marijuana.
LEGALIZE IT! DON'T CRITIZE IT!

People can really benefit from this, I don't even smoke marijuana but my uncle has MS. He has often had to turn to the black market to get what he says eases his pain the most. Putting this on the ballot will make life better for a lot of people therefore it is a morally sound thing to do no matter what your religion. However, in order for this to happen, we need to be very proactive. If you've read this and agree with me, stop waiting! Click the link in the above posts and print out those petitions and go out and get those signatures. If you don't you're only adding to the problem.

I never understood why most drugs are illegal in the first place. People think that drugs kill, but if you think about it, drug laws kill not the as much the drugs themselves. People have just been brainwashed their whole life to thinking drugs are bad. Most people who are against drugs have never tried them or associated themselves with them, so they really don't know what they're talking about and should not have an opinion in this matter. I really want this to be true, but it sounds too good to be. Also, I clicked on the site and there are no more petitions, but if there are other ways of getting a petition let me know, unless it is too late.
WEED IS AWESOME!!!

i would like to think that marijuana could be legalized maybe this time. But its not like the normal everyday person gets to vote for this its going to be congress men and women who most of if they have smoked pot wouldnt even admit to it. All i am saying is don't hold your breath cause its probablly not gonna happen.

It would be great for congress to realize it is not the plant but the person. Its up to the person whether or not they are successful whether or not they smoke. It does not harm unless a person lets it take their life away. I think it should be legal because it can only do harm if you let it. Keep it real and keep it straight.

It only effects a person if they let it. Otherwise keep your priorities straight and soon they will realize its the people who are lazy and addicted, not the plant that does it.

IT'S NOT A WEED!! .. it's a FLOWER..... well it would be a flower if you let it.... so technically, it's a bud.... unless you count schwag (eew)..... that shit will grow in a ditch anywhere..... call schwag weed for sure..... but please, don't soil good marijuana's name with a term like "weed"..... it's bud

this has been a public service announcement from a hippie... thank you for your time

This is just to hard to get done i would love to smoke weed leagaly but the dea needs it to be illegal or they will have to find real criminals. over 75% of americans have smoked it and aren't dead or mentally ill however the ones that keep smoking it and enjoy it have to live scared they will go to jail and get a record.Did you know that if you get arrested for weed you cant get a gov. loan to go to school or for anything but if you killed someone or raped them you can still get one.Stop treating us like we are criminals some of us are judges, lawyers ,police officers, and even the president smoked weed (obama ,bush , clinton)if theyed been caught they would be the same criminals.Last if it some how became legal it would never be legal or good for people under 18 to do it you can wait if you like it that much especially while its illegal you shouldnt associate with drug dealers or actual criminals which you most likely will have to.

Marijuana has never hurt anyone physically or mentally. Marijuana does not hurt the people who do not use it. Marijuana, as it has been said, is the safest illegal street drug there is. From the point of view of an honors student in the top 10% of the class, I can say marijuana has helped me concentrate and mentally deal with problems I have faced through school and home. I would not be the successful person I am today if not for marijuana.

Medical marijuana is casting a cloud of bet basketball confusion over Corporate America. Indeed, employers that operate in the 14 states where pot is now legal as a prescription painkiller are struggling to reconcile zero tolerance drug policies with a patient’s sportsbook right to get high. The matter is more complicated than it sounds. Legal Ps & Qs of THC
Human resources managers, for example, are grappling with such questions as whether random drug tests constitute discrimination under the march madness Americans with Disabilities Act, what they are legally allowed to ask job candidates and whether they are required to accommodate after-hours and offsite use of medical marijuana.
